Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar , today signed the Agreement under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement). Pakistan played a leading role in the negotiations to finalize the Treaty. As Chair of the Group of 77 and China during the two main sessions, Pakistan, representing developing countries, endeavored to promote equity, in line with the principle of the common heritage of humankind.
