FIANZ WELCOMES USA–IRAN PEACE AGREEMENT

PRESS RELEASE

The Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) welcomes the peace agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran and expresses hope that it will mark the beginning of a lasting period of peace, stability, and dialogue in the region.

FIANZ commends all parties who have worked towards de-escalation and peaceful resolution. In particular, we acknowledge the positive and proactive role of the Government of Pakistan in facilitating dialogue and helping to bring the parties towards this agreement. We also acknowledge the mediation role of the State of Qatar in arriving at the Memorandum of Understanding.

Dialogue remains the most effective path to lasting peace since the alternative only leads to the loss of life and destruction of property which undermines any prospect of meaningful resolution. We pray for lasting peace, justice, and healing for all peoples affected by conflict.
