Message from Dr. Arif Alvi
President Islamic Republic of Pakistan
(Universal Children’s Day 20th November, 2019)
The Universal Children's Day is celebrated annually on 20th November in Pakistan as part of global effort to reaffirm our commitment to safeguard the Rights of the Children. Pakistan, as a signatory to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), has always been at the forefront of Regional and International efforts to protect the rights of children.
The CRC was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 20 November 1989. This year, the International Community is celebrating 30th anniversary of the CRC, and reviewing the progress made during these three decades to identify gaps and challenges.
Government of Pakistan is taking all possible measures for creating a nation where equal opportunities exist for all, including women and children. A welfare state is being created, where health care, education and security of life and property will be ensured and rights of all, including children, will be protected.
Children are the architects of a nation. It is, therefore, imperative that they are nurtured and protected to safeguard our future. This requires whole of the nation approach. We all need to combine our efforts for safe and secure Pakistan for children.
