Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) Facility at Canberra

Machine Readable Passport (MRP), facility has become available at the Pakistan High Commission, Canberra (Australia). MRPs are a new version of electronic passports which replace old manual (handwritten) passports. The validity of an MRP is for a period of 10 years.  It may please be noted that personal presence for biometrics, photo and data entry, at the time of launching an MRP application is compulsory.


Some Governments have made MRPs, compulsory for issuance of visas to their respective countries. The Pakistan High Commission at Wellington, at present, does not have the facility to issue MRPs.  All those Pakistan passport holders, intending to go on visits to a country/countries, which have made MRPs mandatory, are advised to get their manual passports replaced by a MRP, either from the Pakistan High Commission at Canberra or from any of the following Pakistan Mission’s having MRP facilities.


MRP facility besides Pakistan also exists in Pakistan’s Mission at London, Frankfurt, Ottawa, Toronto, Rome, New York, Los Angeles, Oslo, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah, New Delhi, Muscat, Paris, Doha, Kuwait and Bahrain.
