Machine Readable Passports (MRPs)

Some Governments have made Machine Readable passports (MRPs), compulsory for issuance of visas of their countries. MRPs are a new version of electronic passports which replaces old manual (handwritten) passports.

The Mission at Wellington, at present, does not have the facility to issue MRPs. Pakistan passport holders, intending to go on visits to countries, which have made MRPs mandatory or for Umra/Hajj on their Pakistani manual passports, are advised to get their manual passports replaced by MRP passports, either from Pakistan itself or from the following Pakistan Mission having MRP facilities.

The MRP facility exists in Pakistan’s Mission in London, Frankfurt, Ottawa, Toronto, Rome, New York, Los Angeles, Oslo, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah, New Delhi, Muscat, Paris, Doha, Kuwait and Bahrain.

It is expected that MRP facility may also become available at Sydney and Canberra (Australia) in the near future.
